DW at Desi Fest05.30.08

The Desi Wear crew will be at “Desi Fest” this Saturday May 31,2008. The event is held at Dundas Square, in Toronto and runs from 10am to 10pm. Feel free to drop by the booth, we’ll have the exclusive Make Samosas Not War T-shirt, which by the way is turning out to be selling as fast as Hot Samosas!

Desi Fest is a South Asian music festival in celebration of South Asian Heritage Month. Yonge-Dundas Square is transformed into a South Asian bazaar and live music showcase for more than 20 Canadian and international artists.

This year’s performances include contemporary indo-jazz fusion and world music, and DJs from the Asian underground music scene. The winning DJ of the Desi DJ Competition is also set to perform. The musical lineup features Apache Indian, Autorickshaw, Shobha, Roach Killa and Nandita.

The festival also features dance and music workshops, cooking demonstrations, arts and crafts vendors and traditional South Asian delicacies.

KOONER CONNECTS!03.05.08

We are pleased to announce that Desi Wear / Entripy have just established a partnership agreement with Boxer: Andrew Kooner & Hennessy Sports (UK).

Andrew is the top Ranked Bantam Weight Boxer in Canada/UK - he is a 27 year old Sikh Boxer.
Kooner, who started the sport reluctantly at age 13 on the insistence of his mother. “My category is probably the toughest in the Americas. All the boxers are good. So I’m feeling right now that I have the capabilities to win.”

Kooner experienced his first international success at the 1996 world junior championships in Cuba. He won the silver medal but lost a controversial final to a Cuban before a raucous patriotic audience.

Get Well Soon Biff!01.10.08

desiwear_biff_naked_02.jpgToronto’s own rocker Bif Naked has been diagnosed with breast cancer, the singer announced on Sunday.However, she is ready to tackle this deadly disease!

“I have never been one to give up when an obstacle is placed in front of me,” says Bif. “I am in the fight of my life and I’m lucky to have the support of my husband Ian, and many friends, and family members. I’m glad it’s me and not my mom. I’m glad its me and not my sister; I’m glad its me and not any of my friends. I am ready for the fight.”

Our thoughts are with her!

First Place! Desi Wear Football Club!12.10.07

Established in 2003 the team was formerly known as “Buckwild United” for 1st season. The DWFC plays in Division 1 in the Oakville Men’s League, on Sundays.
